App is the acronym for August and Peter Pixzel, and marks the coming together of two producers and musical minds. App Live ranges from peak-time techno to beatless, deep melodic house.
The performances incorporate and draw inspiration from the elegance and simplicity of classic early nineties’ techno, through the unmistakable sound of synth and samplers used in a post modern deep house way.
The music will take you on a journey of bouncy organic jazz, using dub delays, keys, live vocals and a lot of filtering.
In the forthcoming live show, App have left the Mac behind to perform a full analogue set, creating and looping the old school way.
United by their love for electronic music, App has its roots in opposing musical backgrounds: August Jakobsen grew up playing the guitar and piano, and went onto study Jazz at Trinity College of Music. He was soon a member of and producing, a number of bands, always enjoying the live aspect. Peter Pixzel began his musical journey in Copenhagen as a DJ playing house music, where his naturally inquisitive mind led him to learn the art of production and create music under his own name. A decade later, now in London,
Peter began organising parties, as one third of WetYourSelf, the seminal weekly Sunday party at fabric in London.
When August and Peter eventually met at a party, the coming together of two extremes sparked an immediate connection which drove them to create and play music together, working in their studio on Gray’s Inn Road.
