Sherif El Awadi aka Shaggy is a Cairo based DJ who began his musical journey with EDM at an early age, following the footsteps of his elder brother, a renowned local DJ. In 2000, Shaggy witnessed the early days of clubbing in Egypt with the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules and Steve Lawler whom he got heavily inspired from. By 2006, Shaggy gained the necessary skills to perform in front of large crowds and partnered with his brother, forming the Awadi Brothers duo.
Shaggy got to perform alongside well known artists in the EDM circuits such as Dave Seaman, Mark Wilkinsinson, Steve Edwards and Nadia Ali, to name a few. He also got to perform in events hosting major international artists including, Beyoncé, Craig David and Estelle. One of his highest accomplishments of his career was playing several times in the famous Pacha Sharm El Sheikh. In 2011, Shaggy decided to leave the mainstream EDM scene, shifting to Deep House. He started performing in the underground scene that has taken Cairo by storm, while warming up for some of the famous names in the scene such as Finnebassen, Doctor Dru and Teenage Mutants.. |
